WARDOGS review

Wardogs

9.0out of 10

Honestly, Wardogs is an absolute blast. It ticks pretty much every single box for what I love in a shooter—high replayability, real risk versus reward, and tons of room for skill expression. It manages to hit that perfect sweet spot where it feels nostalgic, but still fresh enough to hold your attention for hours.

Playing this game takes me straight back to being a kid, sitting in my friend’s room squeezed around an Xbox 360 playing classic Battlefield. The trash-talking, the insane "clip that" moments, the unscripted chaos, it just brings back that pure, unfiltered fun that modern AAA shooters seem to have lost.

One of the things I respect most about it is how much it respects my time. I can jump into a match, sink 45 minutes into doing something productive, and even if I have to bail early, I still walk away feeling like my time was rewarded. That alone makes it so easy to pick up and play.

I’ve basically been exclusively playing Blue team, but even with limited experience on the other teams, the variety inside the sandbox is insane. The driving, the building, the gunplay, the piloting—each one feels like its own fun little silo. You could easily spend an entire day just grinding up one specific skill set and never get bored.

If I had to complain about anything, it’s the progression. The time it takes to level up is a bit of a sore spot, and the balancing relies way too much on vertical power rather than horizontal options. There’s definitely a bit of rage induced when you get instantly beamed across the map by a level 20+ assault running a kitted-out M4 before you even know what hit you.

At the end of the day, though? Those gripes aren't nearly enough to drag down the core experience. It’s an incredible game, and every time I log off, I’m already looking forward to the next match.
