Terms of Service

1. Who can use VerifiedGamers

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By accepting these terms you confirm you are. Accounts we find belong to someone younger are closed and their data deleted.

2. Your account

• Keep your login details safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• One person, one profile. Don't create profiles for other people or impersonate anyone.
• You may only link Steam and Xbox accounts that are yours. Each platform account can back one profile.

3. Scores, levels and warning labels

Levels, credibility scores, archetypes and warning labels are worked out automatically from the play data Steam and Xbox report (see How it works). They describe play history, not anyone's character or the quality of their writing, and they can be incomplete: playtime on platforms we can't read, private profiles and shared libraries don't show up.

If you think a label on your profile is wrong, you can dispute it from your dashboard and we will review it.

4. Fair play

You must not:

• inflate your numbers, for example by idling games, using achievement unlockers, or using bought or shared accounts;
• link or claim reviews you didn't write;
• post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's rights;
• scrape the site, get around rate limits or access controls, or share your API key;
• use the site to send spam or advertising.

We may remove content, hide labels, or suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the reviews, images and other content you post. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it on VerifiedGamers and in the widgets and API you or others embed, for as long as it is on the site. You confirm you have the right to post it.

Anyone can report content. Copyright owners can send a notice under our copyright policy.

6. Pro subscriptions

• Pro is billed monthly or yearly in advance through Stripe and renews until you cancel.
• You can cancel at any time from the Plan tab; Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for.
• [REFUND POLICY: e.g. no refunds for partial periods, except where the law requires.] Where you have a legal right to withdraw from a purchase, you agree Pro starts immediately.
• If a payment is disputed or refunded, or flagged as fraudulent, Pro ends immediately.
• We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice before your next renewal.

7. Other services

VerifiedGamers reads data from Steam (Valve), Xbox (Microsoft, through OpenXBL) and RAWG. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Valve, Microsoft or Xbox. Their services can change or stop working, which may affect your profile. Game names and art belong to their owners.

8. Closing your account

You can delete your account at any time from the dashboard. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the law. Sections 5 (for content already shared), 9 and 10 survive closure.

9. Disclaimers and liability

The site is provided "as is". We don't guarantee it will be accurate, uninterrupted or error free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.

10. Changes and law

We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will ask you to accept the new version before you keep using your account. These terms are governed by the laws of United States of America.
